Legally Reviewed by Joseph P. Williams on April 30, 2015

Since there are now mobile-device applications for everything from shopping to geocaching, the attorneys at The Williams Law Firm, P.C., want New Yorkers who are struggling with mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases to know about some of today’s most popular “apps” for cancer patients on others battling seriously illnesses.

Here are three cancer apps for mobile devices that are helping patients and their families manage appointments, resources, expenses and more.

  • CARINGBRIDGE. THIS WEBSITE ENABLES CANCER SURVIVORS TO SHARE THEIR DISTINCT STORIES, HEARTBREAKS AND SUCCESSES. AN ACCOUNT OR BLOG CAN BE EITHER SET TO “PUBLIC” OR “PRIVATE,” AND ALSO FEATURES A FUNDRAISING ASSISTANCE FUNCTION.
  • THE REX CENTER. THIS APP FOR ANDROID AND APPLE SMARTPHONES ENABLES USERS TO KEEP TRACK OF PAIN AND OTHER SYMPTOMS, LOG APPOINTMENTS, AND CONNECT WITH FELLOW SURVIVORS. IT ALSO HAS SUCH CANCER-SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AS A “VIRTUAL WIG SAMPLER.”
  • CLINICAL TRIAL SEEK. THIS APP IS IDEAL FOR CANCER SURVIVORS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THE LATEST TREATMENT OPTIONS. IT DRAWS INFORMATION FROM THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH DATABASE.

Many cancer treatment facilities and doctor’s offices also have customized apps that allow patients to make appointments, monitor prescriptions, correspond with care providers and more.
